Some FIBA Concepts

I wanted to play with some international basketball concepts, so I did! Below are some really good teams, some have new logos, but I wanted to make modern Nike uniforms for all the teams.

Australia

Greece

Lithuania

Turkey

Los Angeles Clippers Rebrand

Really quick concept here. Total, it took about 4 hours to complete start to finish. The new logos are god awful. Very rarely do I see a logo that makes me want to completely rebrand them to cleanse my palette, but it happened yesterday.

A Clipper is a fast ship. There is imagery in there, but they never use it. I started sketching a logo in class yesterday of a wavy circle with a ship peaking into frame and some sails going out. I made it pretty quickly on my computer after some tweaks. I want people to realize what it is after looking at it after a while. The script is the Toledo Mud Hens font with some thick outlines. I also didn'[t want to bunch up the set with a bland LA logo, so what I did was make LA in maritime alphabet letters to put under the back collar.

The jerseys are new too. I never do basketball concepts, so I didn't have a template. I made a basketball one from my soccer template. Nike is taking over the NBA contract in a few seasons, so I made sure I used them. The home and away are based on the Louisville March Madness uniforms this year. The alternate I chose light blue over navy because it would be more unique.

Brooklyn Nets Rebrand

I was busy on vacation.

So in Brooklyn I saw my fair share of new Nets gear. I thought with the right LOGOS they could be super sweet. But their logos look rushed and generic, so I did the opposite and did something cool.

The cursive script was what I first wanted, I have that script, and cleaned it up and added a tail. Then I sketched a net, but the strings were interwoven with eachother as you can see below. I pieced the identity together with a circle logo and Brooklyn script. You guys better like it, inkscape crashed and I had to redo the whole concept.

Has the jerseys been released yet? Not even sure. I did a simple design similar to the last ones. The pattern up the side match the net design, and I put the design in the middle to see. Nothing special here!

Phoenix Suns

I wanted to keep the whole set purple, orange, and yellow. THat was a big factor. The jerseys are kinda ugly with all the grey now. I wanted a more abstract feel with the swooshes on the side panels. Nothing overpowering on the sides, so no big stripe. The same design can be found on the pants to add some flow to the whole set.

That's what I have now. I might do some more for sure.

Toronto Raptors

Not much of a change from the current, but a change was there. I eliminated all grey on the jersey, and made it a red and black team. That gives the whole set a more Canada feel. The current has 2 slashes on the side. I put three, just to match the logo. Really simnple work here. I used the unused script that matches the logo, instead of the current.

Dallas Mavericks

I didn't realize till I did this that the Mavs changed their dark jersey to royal blue until I did this concept. What I did, was add green. That is really the only MAJOR change to the logos. I wanted to expand the colors of the league, like what I did in the MLB. I made a new type of piping, somewhat similar to the Nike college basketball jerseys.

Cleveland Cavaliers

I wanted to do an NBA redesign, but I ended up getting designer's block and stopping with 4.

On the Cavs, their logo angers me. It has navy, and a weird maroon color. If they want to go maroon and yellow, use it throughout. I am a big fan of the navy LeBron era jerseys with the dashes. I brought that back, but only used the two colors. THe road is in two colors like the ones now.

Utah Jazz

Hey guys.

Say I who saw the new Jazz set, and was all like WUT. But now like it. Just me? moving on.

I LOVE the colors, but that retro logo is lacking. There is a way to look both modern and retro, like what I went for. The primary is the same, but I used a snowflake/beehive logo back from the Malone/Stockton days. The jerseys I made have the 3 colors on each collar, and waist band. A la the navy and light blue set, I had piping running down, with no filler. I felt that it would look weird with the cuffs. The jerseys now use the Jazz script on the logo, and have 3 outlines to match the stripes. On the court, I wanted to try a two tone, and felt this one looked pretty good.

So yeah, comment

Golden State Warriors

Hey guys. I felt obligated to do some NBA Concepts. I did a Grizzlies one, but it's OKAY. I'll probably fix it later.

ANYWHO. I don't really like the Warriors' "new" set. To an extent, retro works. I like the colors a lot, but prefer the previous primary logo. I changed the logo to have no gradients, which was a killer. I limited it to 3 colors, blue, yellow, and a lighter blue. I went with a Raptors style jersey. I think theyre actually pretty cool, and different. I did include the current primary on the shorts, because compared to the other logos, this is the best. I also did a court concept fer you guys.

I'll do some more soon, but comment for now!

Florida Orange

So my good friend entered his name into a fantasy application for a basketball team. I crank logos out as you know, so its no biggie that I had this.

His team is the Florida Orange, just one, and he only had one idea for a logo. I went to his house(we know each other IRL) and I drew out what I thought he meant when he told me about his idea. I drew the kinda logo you see below. An orange with part cut out, then basketball stripes or whatever they're called. I typed out the team name, then slanted it. I thought it looked really cool, so did he. I beveled the name, then added a FO logo for fun.

The jerseys are based on two former NBA set ups. The first two are based on the Milwaukee Bucks' jerseys back in the day. The alt is my idea, a retro jersey based on the Atlanta Hawks' 70s get up.

Comment, por favor.

Inkscape

Alright guys, I've been using paint for over a year. I thought it was time to move onto a different program. I have decided to use inkscape. My concepts will be neater from now on.Inkscape is a vector program, which is basically not bitmap.

Here's the concept I made based ont he totorial by fellow board member, gingerbread man.
Then putting my skills I learned into making this 76ers concept. I actually kind of like it.

So that's what you will be seeing from me in the future. I havn't been doing much concepts, since the only vector templates I have are basketball, and hockey. But stay tuned.

Trifecta Competition

Gah, I've been waiting to post this forever. The competition was to take a city without a franchise in a major sports league and make a team. I entered as the Tampa NBA team. The top 2 concepts advance to the final round, and I actually think I have a shot to do this.

I never do basketball concepts so this was a dificult one. I looked at NBA logos for inspiration, and worked them into my concept.
The team is the Tampa Tide, because Tampa is on the water, and water has tides. I used a beach-y colour combo, with navy, light blue, sand, and orange.
The jerseys are pretty simple. I made a sand alternate for sunday home games. I also but the players names under the numbers, like how the allstar jerseys are.
So can I get C&C on this? Hope I get to do another concept for you guys.

My OKC Thunder Uniforms

Yesterday, I posted my design. I said I'd make jersey's so I did. I edited my football template, into a basketball template. Kinda quick, and simple, but it looks good.I based it off the 76ers jerseys. So send in concept art. Recommend us to your friends. Lets make this site huge.

OKC Thunder Redux

Well this week, the NBA's newest team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, unveiled their name, logo, and colours. Well they messed up. They definately could've done better. So because I can, I made a rebrand. I like it A LOT better. I hope you do too.Like the new format? The middle logo is an OKC. Ill have Jerseys sometime in the future. I just need to find a good template. So comment it, send in your concepts.
