Some Hockey Concepts

Just wanted to try some things with my hockey template. Since the World Juniors are happening, I did some international concepts.

Canada
I think that Canada has one of the best looks in all of hockey. No real changes from their current.

Finland
I changed the color they used to a more light blue one. Then from there, I went along with the template, putting striping on the sleeves, and matching striping on the hem.

Russia
This was the last team I did. I wanted to put atleast one design running down the sleeves, and I figured the Russians would be my best bet. To differ from all the other red and blue teams, I did monochrome red. Sort of an homage to the old Soviet teams. I put the Russian script running Rangers-style down the front.

Sweden
I changed the yellow they used to a more golden yellow. I added white to give it some contrast. I didn't want any white to touch yellow, so it pops more. I felt like it gave the classic yellow and blue a facelift, like what the Predators are doing with their set. Other than that, relatively subdued.

United States
I did some new striping, and changed the shoulder yoke. I put a classic font instead of the Agency one they use now. The navy jersey has a white yoke instead of the shoulder ones that are on the current set.

Manchester Four

I wanted to do a concept for a team with the number. Four is how many players on the field on a team, and how many quarters there are in a game. I didn't want to exile the fans of City of United choosing a color palate used by one of them. I chose purple and gold(U of W Huskies colors), and went from there. A big 4 with 4 stars and a crest and I was set.

I LOVE the plaid pattern that Nike used this year for United, and carried it over. Over white pants and it looks different from every other team. The clash is gold with purple accents and I feel the colors carry this concept.

YC Cardiff

I wanted to do a simple and classic concept that reflected not only Cardiff, but all of Wales. I did a simple C in a circle with the dragon from the Welsh flag. I toned down the green, and kept the red because that color scheme is awesome. Simplicity was the key to this set.
I originally wanted to do a white top and green bottom set, but the color scheme made me change my mind. I went with red over white like the national teams customary to Wales. Just some simple designs similar to Manchester United's former white kit. The clash kit is all green.

HELP ME OUT!

The NASL team from Atlanta is holding a logo design contest, and I figured I had a fair shot at the chance to have my logo used professionally. They posted the submissions on facebook, and I'm a little behind! Please go on facebook and like my logo, but only if you like it! But lets be honest, a lot of them are bad.

My Infographics

I've made a few racing themed infographics just to post on my tumblr, and I thought i would share! Hope you like!

I have some NFL concepts coming up for you all too, so stay tuned.

Birmingham Workshop

Went with another one of you guy's suggestions with this one. Originally, I was going to do a royal blue and white team, but realized that it'd basically be like Tampa. I knew I wanted a team that was light blue and changed Birmingham to that. I used navy as an accent color and went from there. The crest has an anvil for the industry, and a BW for the team initials.

Went with Kappa and a crazy design(because I forgotI wanted to do a sash like the logo) I played around with the colors and patterns and ended up with the following.

Sheffield Union

First, i wanted to do Sheffield Steelers, but that's the name of the hockey team(they even use the same colors!), so then I tried the typical club names. But since Sheffield is known for it's industry, I went with Union(workers union, you know). Orange, grey, and black, with diamond plating on the crest underneath the Yorkshire Rose.

The kits are simple, I know I wanted to do an orange top with a dark grey bottom. I went with adidas, and sort of based it of some teams, but made it my own. On the clash I wanted to do as much on the uniform as i could, but not use it as the actual color of the part.

Magpies upon Tyne

I thought this was fun. Magpies is a nickname for Newcastle United, which is a bird in the UK(and is one of the cooler birds ever). I drew a magpie, and tried to make it modern. The name is based off of Newcastle upon Tyne, which is the name of the city, so I replaced Newcastle with Magpies. Tyne is the river that runs through Newcastle, if you didn't know. But, I liked the color scheme because it's the same colors as United!

I really didn't want to do stripes like united, so I matched the crest and did a half and half uniform. I used puma and tried to make it similar to the crest, with piping and stuff. I really like these! The clash is the light blue version of the home.

Belfast United

You guys suggested Seahorses for Belfast, and it got me going in this direction. The seahorse in the actual city crest was poorly rendered, so I redrew this one. I tried to make it sleek looking, like Aston Villa's lion. I did maroon, and light blue on a simple crest shape with a banner and team name under it. I wanted the motif to be vertical stripes, so prepare yourself now.

Stripes. A lot of them. Other than that, pretty tame. With stripes, you have to use them just right, and I thought by not overbearing everything with them, they actually turned out cool with this scheme.

Edinburgh Fortress YC

I played with a team name like Nottingham Forest, or something that goes (city noun). I went with Fortress because of the castle that has been standing at the center of Edinburgh since the city was founded in the 12th century. The top of the logo is castle decor, with a Scottish lion in the crest, a banner for the name, and the year Edinburgh was established.
The kits were going to be a little crazy, because I chose Warrior to be the brand for this team. I played around with shades of green, did some piping, and other design. The clash kits are minimalistic and white, a la Real Madrid.

Liverpool Mariners

I was really close to naming this team the Liverpool Four, but I went with an easier brand. I used Liverpool's old colors(circa 2007ish), and did a nautical theme. Under the banner, I put an anchor and compass together like an old Mariners concept(I didn't realize they had the same name until just now), but also because Halifax AND Quebec already has a ship in their logo. Above the banner I did a rope pattern that comes up in the jersey.
The jerseys are fairly simple. I ran a strip across the chest and did an all red look. I know it would exile Everton fans, but Liverpool has more fans so I tried to throw it to them as the team to base off of. Pretty simple adidas uniforms here!

Leeds Owls YC

So I went with the colors of Leeds United, another homage to another club in the city. The name was suggested, and when I was looking at Leeds, the crest had 3 owls. So it was perfect! I did yellow and white hoops as the motof for the team, and I thought that looked really neat.
The kits are directly taken from the crest. I did a puma detail on the sleeve The clash is light blue with white accents.

London City Lions

I've got another London team for you all. I based this team a little off Chelsea, but it is it's own thing. What I did, was made a crest and did chevrons on it as a motif to transfer over to the uniforms. What I did was make a lion head so it could stand out on it's own too. I tried to make it dynamic, but classical. The logo set itself is rather bland and simple.

The uniforms had the chevrons going on, and I did use a monochrome top set, and then white socks like what Chelsea uses. I felt like the white REALLY popped off the navy. The alternate is gold which should be unique to the league, and bright and different compared to the navy home.

Yakball Updates

I updated two logos from the US and Canada. I thought of a better way to do the Empire NYC secondary, instead of a star, I made the skyline the top point. And then I redid Exhibition Toronto's primary because I've hated it for the longest time, ahahha.

Yakball: Wembley Wanderers

Moving on to the 3rd league in Yakball, this time will be the British Isles. I have teams in all 4 parts of the UK, and two teams in Dublin.

First is a team from London. Originally I had a team at the Olympic park, but they're tearing down the basketball arena, so I put it in a more historic location. Wembley Wanderers was suggested, and I really loved it. I wanted to make a simple logo to make it seem classy. Simple hand made W in a roundel!
The team was inspired by Arsenal(The other London team will be Chelsea, so heads up). I did red with white sleeves, and then made my own nike-fied clash with lightning bolt designs.

Working on London City's logo right now, so that will be next!

EPL Redesign: Stoke City

I kept the white and red stripes like all home Stoke kits have. With the clash and alt, I had a lot of freedom, and did a few things. The clash is a green/yellow version of the home, with the colors of the sponsor logo. The alternate is just pink and blue, just to see how it looks!

The Logocast

Did I tell you guys I'm on a podcast? I help out on a logo/uniform podcast with two friends from the Creamer boards. Check it out!

Colorado Rockies rebrand

The worst is drawing a concept at the very start of the first class during a double header.

So I drew a concept over 3 hours and came out with the baby to this. Lets face it, the Rockies have an outdated set. But they should always use purple, just a refresher of a logo unchanged since the early 90s. I wanted to do a traditional look with modern flair. I've tried to do this before, but failed. I did realistic mountains(used from my Denver Altitude yakball concept) on a diamond. I added some run off on the diamond to balance it all out. I did the font completely custom too. I dropped the R from the cap logo, because the Rockies are the only team that have the city and team name letter on their cap.

I hit a point where I thought I was done, but it needed something. I did draw a ball flying on my sketches but forgot about it. I wanted to do curved streaks, but got frustrated and went for angled. TURNS OUT it looked SO much better.
Traditional uniforms here. I did piping and purple. I put some design on the numbers similar to the Rangers. I had to do stirrups, for a guy named Jake on the Creamer boards pushing the Rockies to wear them. That was literally my thought process. The alt is a continued movement to have a white hat in the majors.

Chattanooga Lookouts

“Can someone please tell me why the Chattanooga Lookouts don’t use the two eyes as the Os in BOTH their names. It could be great.”

 So I did it.

EPL Redesign: Wigan Athletic

I finally got Wigan done! I did a mixture of stripes and piping on the home using traditional royal blue, white, and gold. The alt is a reference to the black, and gold kit they had a few years ago. The 3rd is a creation of mine using a maroon and golden yellow on the same template. I normally mix up the look, but I enjoyed the way this concept looked, I decided not just recolor it.

EPL Redesign: Aston Villa

I really liked this one. I did the same colors on the home, but did a checker pattern running vertically, and lined the crest, sponsor, and maker logos all along it. On the clash, I replaced the maroon with navy and did pinstripes with light blue sleeves. On the alt, I tried some new stuff. I did green with the yellow from the lion. It’s in the same pattern as the home, and only the lion is on the crest.

EPL Redesign: Queens Park Rangers

QPR was a fun team to play with, just because after the blue stripes on the home, I really could do anything with them. I did a dark grey and black clash, and a red orange third. They’re all similar designs, with a few tweaks.

EPL Redesign: Reading FC

Using my puma template, I did some royal blue hoops on the shirt and socks. Pretty simple on the home. The clash is a red jersey with a blue sleeve, and white pants. The 3rd is pretty out there, I did black with some high lighter piping that pops off the black.

EPL Redesgin: Southampton

One of those EPL teams that has red and white stripes, oh boy. I brought them back, as opposed to the thin white stripes now. The clash is a white version with a grey stripe pattern. The team's nickname is the Saints, so I chose yellow as a 3rd kit in the same pattern.

EPL Redesign: West Ham United

This is my second time redesigning the EPL. I wanted to take more liberties than I did back in 2009. Feel free to drop me a line with your opinions. I'm tarting with the promoted teams, and working up.

I obviously went with claret and blue on the home, which I did a basic design with piping and mismatching sleeves. The clash is a darker blue from the primary blue, from shirt to sock. The 3rd alt is a white and black look of their other kits. I blacked out the crest in addition to just using blue for the piping.

Nashville Sounds Rebrand

So I love it when teams in a city will synchronize colors(like how Pittsburgh SHOULD be all black/yellow, and Seattle SHOULD be navy/lime green). The Predators rebranded with yellow and navy, and the Sounds were a perfect team to match them

I've always wanted to do this concept because Nashville has the worst look in the PCL, in my opinion. The fist thing I did, was make an N using musical notes. The current cap logo is a music note, so I did something less abstract and made an N. From there, I did a script using a font, and then did the primary. I was going to just do "Sounds" in the font, but thought to check and see if there was an S shaped note. When you turn a G clef around, then it does make an S, so I went ahead and did that. Instead of (G clef)ounds, I put another clef on the end of the script than put more strings running under the script. That was pretty much what my sketches looked like.

The jerseys are pretty simple, just some piping here. I played around with caps, and liked the two I chose. I put the 6 strings across the number, and around the socks. I couldn't not use the motif everywhere!

I finally can cross this off my list of logos to do, FINALLY.

London Royals

I'm starting a fantasy league on the Logo Asylum, and I needed a logo. Lions are my favorite animal, and London is my favorite city I've been to. London is known for their Royalty, so the name was chosen. Three lions are on the crest, hense the lion, and the crown is actually from the "keep calm and carry on" posters. I did a stylistic lion as a primary, and it was all I needed.

I went with my pattern to football uniform success(helmets/pants match, jersey/socks match) So This was easy. I put the same striping on the sleeves as the helmet and pants.
